The Professional Schools offers small class size allowing individualized support and highly qualified faculty and staff to assist you in your educational pursuits. Since 1895, the School has graduated hundreds of individuals who have made many remarkable and valuable contributions to the communities in which they live and work.
It is the mission of the Professional Schools to provide health education programs to individuals in communities we serve. The School offers individuals the opportunity to acquire knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary for entry into practice in their chosen health discipline. The college promotes an environment that fosters individual learning and excellence in practice.
Our philosophy in preparing health care professionals is that health care education today involves much more than the transfer of information and technical skills to the student. The faculty and staff of the Professional Schools are committed to providing a high quality environment which fosters student success through institutional integrity, ethical practices and a commitment to continuous improvement in the quality of teaching and learning. As an institution whose primary purpose is the education and development of individuals seeking to enter the health care field, the faculty and staff are also charged with and committed to protecting the health and well-being of the public by ensuring that their graduates are prepared to provide safe and effective care. Faculty also believe that education is a life-long, continuous process, one in which all must join together to improve the environment in which they live, work
and learn.
The Professional School faculty also recognizes the need to admit students who have the academic preparation and skills necessary to be successful in the program of their choice. Therefore, students are admitted on a competitive basis in each program.
Southside Regional Medical Center Professional Schools is a coeducational institution open to any individual 18 years of age or older. Individuals under the age of 18 may be admitted if they are already a high school graduate or if they possess a GED or high school equivalent. Students must meet the required program prerequisites, and graduated from a regionally accredited high school, state recognized home school, or the equivalent. Entrance requirements will vary for individual programs. See program descriptions in the catalog for prerequisites and entrance requirements. Students are encouraged to contact the Admissions Officer in Student Services for more information about a program of interest.
