The birth of your child…quite possibly life’s most perfect moment.
After nine long months of preparation and anticipation, it’s not something you want to share with just anybody. Any hospital can help you deliver your baby, but will they help prepare you for your delivery long before you’re ever admitted? Coach and calm you while you labor to bring a new life into this world? Educate you before you go home about how to properly care for yourself and your newborn? Will they give you peace of mind, that feeling of home, that sense of safety, security and comfort?
The BirthPlace delivers about 1,400 babies every year and provides a full spectrum of care for both you and your growing baby. Southside Regional Medical Center is the only medical center in the Tri-Cities and southern Virginia to have a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), an intensive care nursery for premature babies or newborns experiencing health complications. The experienced team includes board-certified obstetricians, neonatologists, pediatricians and certified lactation consultants, as well as labor and delivery, postpartum and NICU nurses.
To help familiarize you with the unit, please call and schedule a tour. We would love to show you around. We also offer a full array of prenatal classes that help prepare you and your family for the arrival of your newborn. These classes include: Labor & Delivery and Baby Care Basics, Breastfeeding, Infant and Child Safety and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and Siblings Are Special.
If you have any questions or would like to sign up for a tour, please give us a call at (804) 765-5381.
