 What is BMI?
|
Obesity is determined by calculating your Body-Mass-Index (BMI). Determining how much you should weigh is not as simple as hopping on the scale or looking at a height-weight chart, but includes considering the amount of bone, muscle, and fat in your body’s composition. BMI is a good indicator of how much fat you carry on your body.
Although BMI is a reliable indicator of body fat, it does have some limitations. It may overestimate body fat in athletes and others with a muscular build. For people who are considered obese or those who are overweight and have two or more risks factors, the guidelines recommend losing weight. |

Adult BMI Calculator Rather than relying on the bathroom scale to tell you if you're overweight, BMI takes into account your weight and height to indicate body fat. The goal for most people: a BMI that's over 18 and under 25. | |
